Bellevue, WA - Opening day at "The R" produced many moments familiar with all things associated with Backyard Baseball. The fans were in attendance, waters were cold, field was in great shape, and the players were in excellent shape. In somewhat of an early season upset, the Pedroia's upset team Houseboat 17-14. The game provided multiple lead changes, 6 home runs, and the as-expected major dispute, which occurred over a controversial home run call the the Pedroia's claimed was foul. "They had no case," stated Garth Erickson, who blasted the home run to right field off the foul pole. "Tony and David were reasonable, however Todd didn't even know what the foul pole was...he was clueless". Early season front runner for MVP Tony Bacon let the way with 3 home runs and multiple web gems, while Todd Fishman earned the win and David "The Noodle" Cahill earned his first save.

Game Notes:
The 6 home runs (over the fence) was the most on an opening day game since 2005, when the juiced "pickle balls" were used...only 2 strikeouts were recorded in the game...amid controversy over steroid use, the commish allowed Tony Bacon to play (not surprisingly, he led all hitters with 3 home runs...hmmmm)

Game Stats:
HR: Tony (3), Garth (2), Brad (1)
WP: Todd (1-0)
LP: Brad (0-1)
SV: David (1)
Team Pedroia: Tony, Todd, David
Team Houseboat: Jack, Garth, Brad
